with not so much
as a yawn
body hunkered in heat
mind racing beyond
psyche pacing in retreat
Spirit yearning
and aching and grieving
the inhumanity of our songs
ranting and raving
and castigating
sounding judgments
casting aspersions
and diversions
as sacred writ
withholding the kisses
but spraying the spit
disrespecting our neighbours
our partners
our friends
with distrust and disdain
disregarding the pain
we inflict
on each other
never seeking amends
or acknowledging fear
as the engine
empowering the hate
did i arise
too early
but awaken
too late
to remember my calling
surrender my stalling
engaging my believing
that we are all One
not the same
in perception
but made of
the same Love
(which to some
may appear
to be
insane Love)
that embraces the other
whose differences aren't merely
a means for toleration
but Celebration
whose incarnation
is a revelation
of Wonders unnoticed
and Wisdom unheeded
whose presence is needed
not as a reason
to compete
but simply to make
the Party complete?
may we cease and desist
in the dehumanizations
and release and resist
the recurring temptations
of demonization
to open ourselves
to the Realization
that wailing and wielding
our convictions like weapons
of destruction and death
is wasting
a precious Gift
that we share
the sacred Air
our common Breath
and if
we could pause
and Breathe
together
we could
be strong
together
and believe
together
that we
belong
together
and sing
together
a new
yet ancient
Song
our primal
and paradoxical
and doxological
Harmonization.
