for the Eculah

for the Eculah
who tiptoed their Way
back to the Space
that bears their Name
as the primal Reverberations
could finally be felt
in the Great Stillness
and Silence
unveiled by universal pandemic
(tragic for humans
but not so much
for the Hallowed Humus)
as homo sapiens
struggle to respirate
and our haggard
and Holy Home
is gifted
with the Grace
to reconnect and resonate
with its sacred Source
the universal Breath
of Being
a Planet forced
to perpetually perspire
by us people
and our projectiles
that thrust pollutants
into the Air
(we still need
to Breathe)
and pour poisons
into the Water
(of which we still
are mostly made)
and dump detritus
into the Soil
(of which the rest
of us is made)
that is now able
to Breathe DEEPLY
(as humans are forced
to slow down
and stay safe
Love our Neighbors
by keeping our distance
Love our Creation
by keeping still
and Silent)
awakening the Senses
of all Creatures
and Creation
and Cosmos
to the Wonder
of the Waves
the Music
of the Magnificence
the Rhythm
of the Divine Dance
enabling the Eculah
not merely to tiptoe
on Sacred Sands
along the Creek
that bears their Name
but to Prance
and Play
in their elegant Way...

Thanks!

(*'Eculah' is the word for 'Elk' in the Chinook language. 'Eculah Creek', so named by William Clark in 1806 inspired by the Chinook name, eventually was anglicized to 'Ecola Creek' which runs into the Pacific Ocean at the north end of Cannon Beach, OR.
