Wash (Maundy Thursday 2023)

for the times

when the remnants

of our attempts

to show caring

and loving Attention

to suffering Beloveds

converge into crevices

between our toes

and cake onto

our hardened heels

like the dust

from rocky roads 

we have traveled

attempting to unravel

Mysteries of histories

of disconnection

and disaffiliation

and our weariness

is humbly welcomed

by warm hearts

with warm hands

in warm Water

to Wash away

our dreariness 

and despair

and embrace us

in gracious care

and encourage us

that our journeys

into uncharted territories

of haggard hearts

which may appear

on the surface

to be useless

and futile

are in Reality

digging up Dirt

hardened by hurt

delving into Soil

that at its heart

is uberous

and fertile

enough to receive

and nurture Seeds

of Hope

and Healing

that can grow

into Reeds

of reconnection

and Reconciliation...
