Surrendering into Remembering

in those times when

our minds are whirling

and we can't remember

what time it is

(or if anybody 

really cares)

and the connections

that stirred our imaginations

in the present moment

quickly fade into fogginess

of what's left

of our puzzled memory

and our breath

is squeezed and shortened

in frictional flailing

like life is hurling

us into deeper space

of despair and death

help us not descend 

into further grogginess

weighed down with shame

for all the ways

we are failing

or simply pretend

we can grab ahold

of the invisible railing

or the fictional bootstraps

and pull ourselves up

from this place

when all our expectations

for exerting control

are deeply delusional

but rather comprehend

the Astonishment of Abiding

the Wisdom of Waiting

the Simplicity of Surrendering

in Courageous Vulnerability

which can open up

a pathway into Remembering

what constitutes the Essentiality

of our Reality

and how the memory

of concrete conversations

that become muddled flights

of fancy and fantasy

can still catalyze

a Cosmic Connection

expanding our imaginations

and hearts and minds

empowering our bodies

to awaken and arise

into the splendor

of Sacred Surprise

at the emerging

of new possibilities

right before our eyes...
