dark

on this Night

we recognize

as the longest

of the Year

as many look

to the turning

towards the coming

of the Light

remember the Ones

longing and yearning

in their stark

Reality of Life

whose lonely plight

leaves them humming

an unfamiliar tune

howling at the moon

burning at the slight

of hand that left

them moping in misery

and groping for Hope

and whose only sight

is not the Space

where possibilities start

and spark to Life

but where the heart

is left churning

in abandonment and strife

turning over and over

in unimaginable regretting

and unsuccessful forgetting

and for whom

the darkness is not

a trusted friend

but a cold

and unfeeling enemy

a shadowless setting

for a meaningless end

and is simply

overwhelmingly

neverendingly

dark...
