sighing about each other
unwilling to engage
what's driving us
apart at the seams
upon which we stand
(so it seems)
sulking without each other
uncertain to unburden
what's distracting us
from facing our fears
of what we've planned
(our sordid dreams)
screaming at each other
unable to understand
what's the matter
with lending another
a helping hand
(out or up)
shouting above each other
unconcerned about hearing
what's going wrong
for Beloveds of colour
in our land
(without and within)
seeking from each other
understanding but forgetting
what's most essential
for primal connection
beneath demands
(within and without)
speaking the same language
(culturally...politically...religiously)
is unnecessary for abetting
what divides us
since we are already
Breathing the same Language
(physically...relationally...Spiritually)
so what if we all
ceased our sighing and sulking
our screaming and shouting
and allowed our Breathing
to inform our seeking
(through our doubting and dreaming)
and infuse our speaking?
maybe we'd discover
that beneath the jeers and sneers
we use to cover our fears
there is the same Air
that flows in shared Breath
in Life and in death and Beyond
in the Love that is Everywhere
and perhaps we'd uncover
in all the ways we try
to keep ourselves apart
that there is no way
to separate Yin from Yang
or Night from Day
or Me from You
