sloshing and soaring

running
while the Tide
is out
and the gulls
are singing
and the Waves
are ringing
around
the rocky points
from one cove
to the next
releasing all
that is perplexed
within me
with each stretch
and stride
breath and sigh
until the shore ends
at a bluff
a solid barrier
to further motion
in my current direction
a sound buffer
to unknown terrain
and mental commotion
a safe harbor
to take a pause
and let the Ocean
fill my senses
and Spirit
once again
to turn around
and redirect my movement
back to the location
from whence i came
but with renewed energy
and purpose
now connected
beneath the surface
with my senses
and Spirit
until i find myself
back at a point
around which i've traveled
only to find
my journey unraveled
as the Tide
rolls in
and the Waves
hem me in
to the cove
the only recourse
being to plunge
my feet and feelings
into the Surf
and feel the weight
of waterlogged shoes
the friction
of squishing toes
and bunions
against sloshing socks
saturated by the Sacred
Source of vitality
(of which we
are mostly made)
like the grunions
baptized repeatedly
by the Tide
before remaining exposed
on the shore
to conceive
new life again
i take a pause
demoralized defeatedly
my soggy shoes
and Self
a reminder
of the greater Power
and purpose
of the Surf
and the relative Reality
of our worth
and the primal Divinity
of the Earth
and how the cycles
of Tides and Seasons
roll on beyond reasons
and how bluffs
sometimes emerge
as the currents surge
not as a way
to restrict us
but as a means
to receive
new life again
from the great
Ocean of Love
to redirect and revive
and release us
(even through
unexpected baptisms)
into a new experience
of our Connectedness
as Creations
with Creation
as One Relation
sloshing our way
along the shoreline
soaring our Way
Beyond Time.

  1. That looks mighty dangerous... Glad you made it out with just soggy shoes and nothing more.
