20 (out of many...One)

a day we wish
never happened

which we must
never forget

which arrived unchosen

emerging from hearts

frozen in fanaticism

has come of age
and while the dust
has settled and mettled
into memorial
the rage has simmered
into a boiling explosion
of exclusionism and racism
and nationalism and terrorism
like the sources and forces
that caused the implosion
of towers and showers
of flames and flesh
and ashes to dust
still unsettled
still floating
in a formation
of a fantasy
of a nation undivided

while a fomentation

of hatred

devours our Soul

with no wounded Child

(native or nomadic)

enduring underided

and numerous pots
calling out kettles

with visions of incisions 

into our fabric

of freedoms

crying out

against supposed tyranny

waving symbols

of confederacy

in hallowed halls

of democracy

fanning the flames

of insurrection

a violent violation

a defiant defection

a repugnant reflection

of entitled exceptionalism

desecrating the vision

of a safe space

of unconditional welcome

for every sacred Child

from any sordid Nation

disrespecting the memory

of all who chose

to sacrifice

their freedoms and securities

in offering their lives

for the saving of others

strangers and lovers

in the Spirit

of the Love

that uncovers 

and recovers Hope

out of the ashes

of despair

and willingly undergoes

unchosen crucifixion

in order to embody

universal Resurrection

in this age

of demonization and deflection

in this Land

that we claimed

to be ours

without allowing it

to claim us first

may we choose not

to slake our thirst

to be 'right'

and blame others

as 'worst'

but with honest

and humble hearts

acknowledge the ways

we have chosen

to corroborate

(knowingly and un)

with the forces

of 'might makes right'

domination and oppression

rather than cooperate

with the Powers

of confluition and collaboration

in authentic confession

may we engage

each other as equals

creating a sequel

to this ongoing nightmare

that is less a dream

and more a Realization

may we commemorate

and celebrate those 

whose blood

and sweat 

and tears

offered in Love

is watering seeds

of Promise and Peace

from sea to shining sea

may we be

an eternal Incarnation

of unconditional Love

never forgetting

and always forgiving

building a Land

for all the living

that is truly yours 

and mine

and Ours

(together as One).
