leaving (day 224)

avocados in my grandma's
'back forty'
maples in my sons'
front yard
raking remnants
once beautiful
and life-giving
now shedded casualties
of shredded possibilities
as their life-source
goes dormant
clearing the soil
for rest
and rejuvenating
new life-living
